RHEMA

Many years ago, I would read my Bible but I won't get anything sensible from it apart from the stories and the do's and don'ts that were also resounding in family and school rules. Back in the university, especially in my first year, I used to wonder at those guys who spoke "jargon" that sounded high and spiritual and I kept on wondering if it isn't the same Bible that I've been reading.
Well, I was like the Ethiopian Eunuch in Acts 8. Philip simply asked him, "Understandest thou what thou readest?" The Eunuch replied, "How can I, except some man should guide me?" (Acts 8:30-31)
Well, a believer filled with the Holy Spirit finds it easier to assimilate spiritual truths much more than a believer that is not."The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them." 1 Cor. 2:14. Also, one's capacity for the truth increases when one is filled with the Holy Ghost. "There is so much more I want to tell you, but you can't bear it now, But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth..." John 16:12-13.
It is the Spirit that gives life; the flesh profits nothing. Without the Holy Spirit, the word remains as mere letters. Until you understand the word of God, you cannot derive any benefit of obedience from it.
That is why Paul prayed a very important prayer for the Ephesians when he FIRST heard of their faith: I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.- Eph. 1:17. And Peter said, "May God give you more and more grace and peace as you grow in your knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord." 2 Pet. 1:2
So, you need to receive the Holy Spirit so that you will grow spiritually and in the understanding of the word of life. Hear what Apostle Paul said,"So let us stop going over the basic teachings about Christ again and again. Let us go on instead and become mature in our understanding..." Heb. 6:1. RHEMA isn't for a select few. The word of God is for the profit of every believer. "But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal." -1 Cor. 12:7
If sincerely, you do not understand the word of God and you do not hear God speak to you when you study His word, simply ask God for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation. But you must be born again to receive the Holy Spirit. You must create a desire in your heart for Him. Our heavenly Father will give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him.
