The Lifespan of Choice

Choice is the right to decide from among range of options. Life constitutes a mixture of both promising and damaging options, pleading for your decision. Lamentably, many have sided the world with its passing pleasures. This is evidenced in the way people are experimenting with sex, embarking on drinking spree, baring their bodies for fringe returns and trading their souls with perishables. But bear in mind that your power of choice is just temporary; it does not last forever. Choice has a lifespan! The power of choice is revoked at the point of death. No dead man retains the power to choose between God and the world. The moment your eyes close in death, your choosing privilege is completely lost!  You can only see your scores. “…choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve…but AS FOR ME and my house, we will SERVE THE LORD” (Jos.24:14-15).
Who do you choose to serve? God or the devil? Your choice will assuredly drive you to a destination - heaven or hell. Choices carry potentials to either boast or blow your eternal destiny. Choices either guarantee or endanger your future in eternity. It can either detract or attract you to the path of life. Most dreadfully, choices are not subject to review after death. Whatever you have chosen now, its effect, good or bad, is actually awaiting you in eternity with no space for alteration. You will personally bear the eternal outcome of your choices, whether made blindly or willfully. There will be no bulk passing or blame game in eternity! Besides, every wrong choice MUST be regretted when you enter the immortal land. Do you know?
Interestingly, it is never too late to make the right choice. The only unsurpassed and wise choice is to decide on Jesus Christ today. This decision will secure a space for you in heaven and shield you from impending disaster that will soon come upon those who neglect God’s free offer of salvation in Christ Jesus. “Today I have given you a choice between life and death, success and disaster” (Deut.30:15). Do you want death and disaster? Accept Jesus Christ (life) into your life today by confessing thus: Dear God, I know that I am a sinner; and I can’t save myself. I trust all that Jesus did to purchase me. Forgive my sins. Write my name in the book of life. Help me by your Holy Spirit to please you always, in Jesus name, Amen!
