BE DELIBERATE ABOUT YOUR WALK WITH GOD

Our Bible text for today is taken from Habakkuk 2:1-4

"I will climb my watchtower and wait to see what the Lordwill tell me to say and what answer he will give to my complaint.

2 The Lord gave me this answer: “Write down clearly on tablets what I reveal to you, so that it can be read at a glance.
3 Put it in writing, because it is not yet time for it to come true. But the time is coming quickly, and what I show you will come true. It may seem slow in coming, but wait for it; it will certainly take place, and it will not be delayed.
4 And this is the message: ‘Those who are evil will not survive, but those who are righteous will live because they are faithful to God.’”

In the Scripture above, the prophet makes a striking statement that he will WAIT and HEAR what the Lord will say to Him. This is crucial for us in our walk with God. All through Scripture, the Lord has promised to guide and instruct us, but we really do not care, do we? We ought to wait upon the Lord to hear His instructions and receive His counsel. In Psalm 32:8, the Lord says He will advice us and will also watch our progress. His caring eyes are always upon us to watch our progress as we obey Him. He'll never instruct and leave us high and dry. He'll always watch our progress and guide us in the right path. My emphasis is here is that we should wait to hear God speak. In Psalm 5:3, David said he'll pray to God in the morning and will wait for His answer. Don't be insensitive while praying or rush off, wait to hear God speak to you. God speaks!

Moving on, in verse 2 of our opening Scripture, the Lord replies the prophet with an instruction to write down what the Lord will say to Him. The Lord told the prophet to write it down CLEARLY. My counsel to you today is, be deliberate enough to note down God's Word to you. The faintest ink retains more than the sharpest mind. Do you take notes during lectures and seminars? We even prepare a grocery list for shopping. How much more when the Lord speaks. Get a good notebook and make it your spiritual journal. As you go through the Lord's words to you, you will have more understanding of His counsel and remember the Lord says He will watch over your progress. You need to keep record of your progress. Write it down.

The Lord also promises that the vision will not fail. Though it tarries, it will not exceed it's appointed day of manifestation. And unless the Lord has spoken clearly to you about the day of manifestation, be rest assured that He the Sovereign Lord knows it all. The Bible says that two virtues are important as you wait: Faith and Patience. Hebrews 6:12 says that we should be followers of those who through faith and patience inherited the promise of God. Be patient and wait for the fulfillment of God's word.

Finally, in verse 4 of our opening Scripture, the Lord said clearly that the wicked and unjust will not prosper at the end of it all, but the righteous and upright will prosper. While waiting, you may look around you and it might seem that the unrighteous and ungodly, who care nothing about the glory of God and His ways seem to prosper. Be rest assured that it is all vanity. Psalm 73 also expresses the Psalmist's thoughts on the prosperity of the wicked and ungodly. Read that Psalm and be comforted, knowing that the Lord is faithful.

"The just shall live by faith"

After the Lord has assured us if His guidance, He says, " Don't be stupid like a horse or a mule, which must be controlled with a bit and bridle to make it submit.” Ps. 32:9.
Tough but true words.

Wait to receive the Lord's counsel
Write it down clearly
Wait patiently in faith for its fulfilment
Keep your eyes on the Lord.

The Lord bless you. Amen.
