What you need to know

Did you know that you are an artery?
A weird concept, but a true one. An artery connects the heart with the rest of the parts of the body. It supplies the hands, the feet, the liver, etc., with the necessary life to perform their functions. Right next to the heart, it gets to feel the pumping blood and carry it to the rest of the body.
You are an artery next to the heart of God pumping life out to those you meet.
In being intimate with God through prayer, worship, pouring out your heart, and obeying Him, you automatically hear the beat of His heart and start to carry His life out to those around you. People have so many needs, so many hurts, and God’s life can—and wants to—make them alive.
How can you be close to God?
Just take a moment to saddle up next to Him. Think of a little kid tugging on the sleeve of his father. The father may have a million things to do, but his kid’s needs at that moment are the most important  to Him. What is troubling you? Is it finances? Marriage? The lack thereof? Maybe you are facing depression or foreclosure. Times are hard right now, but God’s goodness never changes. He told Joshua, and He is telling you today: “This is my command--be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go" (Joshua 1:9).
God is with you!
That means He cares and approves of you. You do not need to be worried about coming to a Father who is displeased with you and doesn’t want to talk. God said, “As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him” (Psalm 103:13). Take a moment right now and pour out your heart to God. This will get the blood pumping through your artery and give you new life—and those around you. Ask God who needs His life around you today, and ask Him to help you give it to them.
